On this Good Friday, we are met with two fundamental truths that underscore the depth of our God.

First, God absolutely HATES sin. In a world that diminishes it, sweeps it under the rug, and often even celebrates it, the Church far-too-often fails to proclaim the fierce hatred the Lord has for sin – which He calls us, too, to abhor.

His hatred of sin is so deep and the consequences of sin so severe, that no sacrifice other than the death of His own Son would suffice as payment.

Yet, secondly, along with this great hatred is a deep and abounding love for His people – for whom He was willing to make payment and for whom His Son was willing to die.

May you, today, celebrate a God who abhors sin yet loved you enough to make payment for yours.
